DayBreak

The Daybreak program primarily serves an aging population of developmentally disabled seniors who are retirement oriented and require varying degrees of medical attention.

The program is recreationally based and addresses both leisure/socialization needs as well as acute medical conditions. Services for individuals are funded by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and are offered Mon.-Fri., 8:00am-3:15 in an inviting, comfortable, handicap accessible facility.

The program staff is primarily comprised of a Registered Nurse and several CNA’s (Certified Nursing Assistants), who provide quality health care in a caring and compassionate environment. Nutritious, geriatric meals and snacks are provided and prepared according to a physician’s orders and under the recommendation of a licensed dietician.

The Activities Coordinator plans a monthly calendar of events which accommodates each participants social and leisure needs, based on his/her preferences and abilities.  Typical on site activities include bingo, crafts, chair-dancing, cooking, exercise and music appreciation.  Performance artists such as magicians, singers and actors are also included in the program whenever possible, while several community integrated activities take place throughout the year.  Trips to the movies, plays and restaurants are very popular with the participants.
