About Volunteering at The Arc of Washington County
Volunteers come from all backgrounds and age groups, and anyone may apply to become a volunteer. Through contributions of time, energy, inspiration and expertise, volunteers often report they receive more than they give. They gain experience, make connections, and feel a sense of satisfaction from knowing their time has a direct influence on Individuals. Volunteers can invest a little time or a lot. Opportunities range from one-time events or special projects to regular recurring duties. Give one day per month, one hour per week, one week per year – there are no restrictions on how much time you contribute.
What You Can Expect
For the safety, protection, and education of our volunteers, staff, and students, those who want to volunteer on a regular basis will be asked to attend an orientation and training classes tailored to your specific volunteer interest. At the meeting, volunteers learn the dos and don’ts and important policies andprocedures, and expectations. Volunteers can also expect a heart-felt “thank you” from staff, and the individuals we support.
