Individual Family
Support Services
Capabilities
The IFSS Program provides supports to 185 individuals
with disabilities who live on their own in the community
and to individuals who live with their families. A caseworker is assigned to
work closely with the individuals in coordinating services. An outreach worker
may assist
with recreational activities as well as daily living skills
such as housekeeping, shopping, cooking, and financial skills. Each person has
his/her own Support Service
Plan which is geared directly to his individual
needs and requests.
Children, adults, and couples who are developmentally disabled or who are caring
for someone with a developmental disability will be considered for service in
the Western Maryland Region. Individuals who are not developmentally disabled
may be considered if requested services meet program guidelines.
Most individuals contracting services through the IFSS program establish
eligibility and are funded by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.
Private funding may also be considered.
