Intensive Behavioral Management Program
Capabilities

challenging behaviors who are eligible for DDA services in the Western Maryland
Region (counties of Carroll, Frederick, Washington, Allegany and Garrett).
Behavioral
support services include behavioral consultation, temporary augmentation of
staff, behavioral respite, transitional services, crisis intervention, and
behavioral training. IBMP is comprised
of licensed psychologists, psychology associates under the supervision of a
licensed psychologist, guidance counselors,
and crisis intervention specialists.
Behavioral Assessment and Consultation
Assessment and consultation consist of a variety of behavioral assessments
designed for early detection of significant problems, to prevent them from
escalating, and to respond to behavioral emergencies and crisis's. This service
is available to any individual, presumed eligible within the Western Region, who
has a developmental disability and a challenging behavior. This service is the
point of access for other behavioral services provided by IBMP.
Crisis Intervention
Crisis Intervention is an emergency service for unexpected situations that need
an immediate evaluation to determine
the individual's current status and what services are needed
to resolve the situation. Crisis Intervention is available to any individual
within the Western Region who has been determined by the DDA to be eligible for
DDA services, or reasonably presumed eligible, and to individuals designated by
the DDA.
Temporary Augmentation of Staff (TAS)
IBMP will provide TAS to work with an individual and his/her regular caregiver.
TAS can be provided for 40 hours per week for up to one month, or longer if an
extension is approved by DDA. Regularly scheduled staff and/or family or other
caregivers MUST be present while TAS services are being provided. TAS is
available to any individual presumed eligible within the Western Region, who has
a developmental disability and a challenging behavior.

individual's needs for substitute care in planned or emergency situations.
Respite services may be provided for a maximum of 45 days, within any one year
period (July 1 to June 30) and shall not be provided for more than 28
consecutive days, unless approved by DDA. Respite is available to individuals
within the Western Region, and must be severe enough to require specialized
respite services. Transitional Services: Provides temporary residential
placement to meet an individual's need for longer substitute care than is
provided by Behavioral Respite.
