Children's Residential Services

Capabilities

The Children's Residential Program provides services which are home-like, safe, maximally integrated into the community, and tailored to the particular disability/challenges that each child experiences. The program provides residential care for boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 17 in 4-person community homes. These settings provide structure and care for children functioning in the borderline or mildly mentally retarded range, with emotional disorders and behavioral issues. The program currently has the capacity to serve 12 children.

The Foundations Program, which works in collaboration with the Children's Residential Program, provides transitional services through a group home setting for young people ages 16 to 21. The program targets those who have shown deficits in the necessary skills to live independently. Program participants concentrate on developing independent living skills. Individuals must be between the ages of 16 and 21 with an IQ of approximately 80 or below. Individuals must be behaviorally stable and not require intensive behavioral supports. The program currently has the capacity to serve 5 young men and 5 young women.

Both Children's Residential and Foundations are funded and
licensed through the Department of Human Resources.
